Rafaê began his career in 2005 as a still photographer at TV Globo, where he worked for eight years, taking part in major productions and earning recognition in the audiovisual industry. In 2012, he made his debut as Director of Photography on the film Kuarup, which portrays the traditional Indigenous ceremony in the Xingu region, in collaboration with Imagine Filmes.
Between 2013 and 2015, he was Director of Photography for the TV show Faixa Musical on Canal Brasil. In advertising, he won the 2016 MoFilm Award for Best Cinematography with campaigns for Bradesco, 50 Best Restaurants, and Reebok (Be More Human). He was also responsible for the cinematography and direction of music videos for artists such as Letrux, Hamilton de Holanda, Diogo Nogueira, MaeAna, and Sílvia Pérez Cruz.

From 2016 to 2019, he shot and co-directed the documentary Mar de Lama. Between 2022 and 2023, he led the direction and cinematography of the feature film CERNE (awarded in Portugal and Brazil). In 2024, he signed the cinematography of the film Rio 460 — celebrating the 460th anniversary of Rio de Janeiro and the 60th anniversary of TV Globo — as well as the short films Avenca (Best Cinematography Award) and Amazon Rouge (nominated at Cannes). In 2025, he worked as cinematographer on several short films in Europe.
His most recent work was directing the medium-length film Vozes que Inspiram (Voices that Inspire), shot in Portugal. Rafaê is currently devoted to creating and directing new projects in Brazil and abroad, driven by the desire to tell stories that deserve to be seen and remembered.
